Academics

Curriculum Overview

At Sparkles Montessori, our programs are designed to nurture the unique potential of each child —
academically, socially, and emotionally — through age-appropriate environments.

Our curriculum encompasses a wide range of subjects, including:

Practical Life Skills

The practical life activities in Montessori environments are designed to help children develop life skills such as focus, coordination of movements, order, critical thinking, and independence. They also promote self-awareness and a sense of responsibility towards the environment, while supporting the child’s social and emotional development.

Sensorial Education

As the name suggests, the Montessori activities in this area are specifically designed to enrich the children’s skills in discrimination, order, and the refinement of their senses. The refined senses in this domain include visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory, olfactory, baric, thermic, kinesthetic, and stereognosis.

Language Capacity

At Sparkles Montessori, the language curricula focus on the development of the four language acquisition skills: listening, speaking, writing, and reading. The activities are designed to create phonetic awareness through multi-sensory integration. The medium of instruction for the school is in English language. Children are also infused with the necessary skills in two local languages: Telugu and Hindi and one International Language: Spanish.

Mathematics

The indirect preparation for the development of a child’s mathematical mind begins in the sensorial area. Children learn abstract concepts such as number quantity association, the decimal system, teens, and tens, as well as computation skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and geometry. Specially designed boards, beads, and materials are used to facilitate learning of these concepts.

Cultural Studies

The Cultural Studies area of the classroom encompasses various subjects that complement the Montessori Method. Cultural subjects include Geography, Botany, Zoology,Artand music. Exploring these subjects provides children with the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity about different ideas from around the world. The study of Geography and Foreign Languages enables children to understand the vastness of the planet and appreciate their own culture and that of others. Children develop an understanding of cultural diversity and ultimately foster compassion and appreciation for differences among humankind.

Add-On Programs

Share Your Read

To encourage reading habits, Sparkles Montessori conducts Share Your Read on every 1st and 3rdThursday of the month. Children borrow books from the school library and share their interpretation of the book on the next SYR. The activity also allows children to have consistency in reading activities from school to home, encouraging them to shape their interpretation of the book and context.

Sports

Integrating sports into the curriculum not only fosters physical fitness but also cultivates essential skills such as agility, coordination, teamwork, patience, and self-awareness. In the Montessori approach, sports emphasize the development of self-discipline and the joy of independence, prioritizing personal growth over the need to "win" or outperform others to attain success.

Creative Arts

Sparkles Montessori, we believe in the transformative power of Creativity, encompassing both Arts& Crafts and Performing Arts such as skit, dance and script delivery. These expressive arts empower children to explore diverse emotions, perspectives, and roles, fostering empathy and understanding. We support the children at every step of developing self-expression, art appreciation, and fine motor development. Engagement in creative arts also creates a platform for collaboration and team coordination, while instilling self-confidence, body awareness, coordination, rhythm, and stage presence in children.
